This tool will convert any spaces (which are not inside " or ' quotes) into tabs according to the number of spaces per tab selected in the "Tabs" menu. Spaces inside " or ' quotes are preserved. The program will also absorb any trailing tabs or spaces at the end of a line. It is not necessary to run "De-Tab" first, if you just want to clean up a file with the same Tab setting, where spaces and tabs were used interchangeably.
